Dual Immersion Program

What is D.I.A.? D.I.A. or Dual Immersion Academy. Dual immersion programs include native English-speaking students and native speakers of a foreign language. The goals of dual immersion programs are to develop bilingualism/biliteracy, academic achievement, and cross-cultural competencies for all students. The Dual Immersion Program is located at Mount Vernon Elementary School and is currently servicing students in Pre-School - 8th grade. 

Mission Statement: The Mount Vernon School community is dedicated to developing inquiring, knowledgeable, and caring young people who help to create a better and more peaceful world through intercultural understanding and respect. Our students become bilingual, multi-skilled, active, and compassionate lifelong learners who are prepared for success in all of their endeavors.

Basic Facts of Mount Vernon’s Dual Immersion Program:
50/50 model (50% instruction in English and 50% instruction in Spanish)
