Update to LGSD Parents
Starting Wednesday 3/25/2020, families will receive multiple days of food at once. With food distribution on Wednesday, our students will receive meals for the rest of the week (Wednesday through Friday). Children (age 0-18) must be present in order to receive meals. There will be no food pick up on Thursday 3/26 or Friday 3/27. Moving forward, starting Monday, 3/30/2020, there will be only one day for meal service, but each student will receive a bag with a week’s worth of meals. Children (age 0-18) must be present in order to receive meals. The hours are: 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Lemon Grove Recreation Center parking lot.
Moving to this process will allow us to minimize exposure risk to our Child Nutrition Services employees and families.
Student Chromebook Distribution
For those families who signed up online to check out a district Chromebook, we are utilizing FedEx to mail/deliver the computer devices to student houses. Our school office staff will be reaching out to families to update their contact information - including home mailing address, parent phone number(s), parent email addresses, and emergency contacts.
Everyone who completed the online form/loaner agreement from LGAE, LGAM, Monterey Heights, Mt. Vernon, and San Miguel will be sent a Chromebook. In addition, we will be sending Chromebooks to any families at VLMA and San Altos who missed the distribution day this past Thursday.
In addition, if our closure status gets extended beyond our current April 17th date, we will complete a second distribution for families. The caveat being, that a family needs to have internet access at home in order to utilize the Chromebook and be willing to accept financial responsibility if it is broken, stolen, or lost.
Equitable Access to Instructional Materials and Resources
Our Education Services team has been coordinating the printing of grade level packets. These are 20-day packets with grade level appropriate worksheets with district-adopted curriculum in Benchmark/Adelante, Go Math, and iReady. These resources will be available via multiple methods: (1) posting resources to our website, so parents can download and print them; (2) Copies will be available at our food distribution site at the Lemon Grove Recreation Center parking lot; (3) Mail packets to student homes via US Mail if parent requests this option.
